We’re officially half way through our current crowdfunding campaign Elhamdulillah (wait, you didn’t know we’re currently raising money to fund the production of our newest product?! You might want to catch up with this post then!). We thought it was about time we focused a little bit more on the characteristics of our misbahas (tasbihs) and why they’re actually different from all the ones you’ve seen on the market so far!
1 . Palestinian wood
Palestine holds a special place in the heart of every Muslim, being the home to Masjid al Aqsa and the starting point of the Night Journey (al Isra wal Mi'raj). We knew we wanted to honor its people, who has been the bravest through some of the hardest trials. That is why our brand-new misbahas were maded using Palestinian wood. A way for us to pray for them when we are remembering Him, but also support the local economy and craft art.
2. Olive wood
At Rahatnook, we're all about creating intentional products that reminisce the beauty and lessons of Islam. That's why our misbahas are made from the wood of the blessed tree, the Olive tree, and polished with olive oil! This resonates with one of the most special verses of the Holy Quran: “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.” (24:35)
3. Bosnian makers
You might not know this but our founders were born and raised in Bosnia! This beautiful country is dear to their heart and they knew they wanted Rahatnook to find its roots there. Therefore, after the making of the beads in Palestine, the misbahas are then assembled by Bosnian artisans. Another amazing way to support local Muslim businesses!
